When you go to the beach and see a spot with no waves, don’t come closer

When you go to the beach and see a location without any waves, don’t move closer. It’s a rip current that appears at random along the coast. The area will appear darker due to deeper water, a calmer surface, and lesser waves.

When you step in here, the water will sweep you out into the center of the sea at such a high speed that even an Olympic swimmer will struggle to swim back. This is also responsible for 80% of drownings at sea.

If you are swept away by this current, the first thing you should do is remain calm, then swim horizontally to escape; do not attempt to swim towards the coast.
